I lost my sense of trust, honesty and compassion. I crashed down and became what I consider an emotional mess. I've never been so miserable in my whole life. I just wanted to go to bed and never get up.
Shania Twain
I love themes and so love it when a theme shows up organically in my own life and journey. Honesty is the current theme, not just for myself but for many around me. For some it is a holding back - they are incredibly honest and truthful but there are certain pockets within their lives that they just cant boldly be totally honest and in their truth-telling for whatever reasons. These reasons are often varied and wide and FEAR underlies this for many - fear of success, fear of failure, fear of being judged, fear of shining, fear of this and fear of that. Always remember FEAR is False Evidence Appearing Real! For me there are elements of that in my own life but more so I as Robyn have got somewhat stuck on or in other's lack of integrity or congruency - I love the word congruency - it is where your words, feelings and thoughts are aligned (all agreeing and happy!) Or it is more for me - I do find it rather discouraging how many people are shocked by honesty and how few by deceit and I so definitely need to come back to me. And yes I so know that this mirrors back into my own life around my own pockets of needing to show up in a bolder way. So from feeling a tad stuck in the Effect of my life I have taken action as I want to live my life more boldly and peacefully in the Cause where I am congruent and aligned to something so loving beyond me.
So when in doubt I always come back to 'Cause and Effect' - when I get stuck in another's way or thoughts, I simply say come back, take a breath and look at what needs to change to come more organically into the Cause of my own life. Plus also ask yourself how being in the Effect is costing you, ask also how by you not being honest is costing/stopping/deadening you, your life, your health, your passion and your living a peaceful, connected and loving life?
I also want to ask you what stops you saying 'No' - do you need to say no more often and be more truthful so you are more congruent - Alexander Lowen - spoke about 'to be able to say no effectively one has to know who one is and what one wants! Knowing equals No-Ing!' Listen to your body - every time you say yes and you feel a body feeling, a pain, anxiety, tightness, a lump in your throat etc. - most times you needed to say No!
I also believe being able to say'no' means being aware of and acting in alignment with your own values and goals as well as being connected to what is your body saying!'
I have also included this quote - this quote for many years has been a great mentor in me being more honest (my mum use to say to me that I was often too honest), but I so love the knowing that when I listen into me, my life is more on track and true...
Man in the Glass
When you get what you want in your struggle for self
And the world makes you King for a day
Just go to the mirror and look at yourself
And see what THAT man has to say
For it isn’t your father or mother or wife
Whose judgement upon you must pass
The fellow whose verdict counts most in your life
Is the one staring back from the glass
Some people may think you are a straight-shootin’ chum
And call you a wonderful guy
But the man in the glass says you’re a bum
If you can’t look him straight in the eye
He’s the fellow to please, never mind all the rest
For he’s with you clear up to the end
And you’ve passed your most dangerous, difficult test
If the man in the glass is your friend
You may fool the whole world down the pathway of years
And get pats on the back as you pass
But your final reward will be heartaches and tears
If you’ve cheated the man in the glass.
